Maison Dellys to shut up shop

Goodbye Maison DellysFor many of us at Perseverance Works, Maison Dellys has long been a feature of our working day. But despite its fantastic sandwiches, pasta dishes and other lunch options, soaring rent costs have forced the café to close once and for all.

Run by Nigeria-born Farid, who gets up at 5.15am to prepare fresh dishes and pastries every day, the Columbia Road café has seen its rent rise from £11,000 to £27,000 a year. For bigger businesses moving into the East End, this rise in rents may not matter but for smaller companies like Maison Dellys such sky-high figures are prohibitive.

So after eleven years, Maison Dellys will be selling its last sandwiches on 30 October. There will also be a farewell party on 29th October from 5.30pm. So let’s come to work lunchless a few times this month and make sure the wonderful Maison Dellys goes out with a bang!
