Eastside’s party raises money for spoken word project

On 29th August, Eastside Educational Trust in partnership with TOWER London threw a big birthday bash to celebrate Eastside’s 25th birthday!

The party brought together the incredible community at PW as well as Eastside’s artists, celeb patrons, friends and supporters – plus TOWER’s very own DJs influencers, crew and guests! Thanks to the board of Perseverance Works, the party took place in the PW courtyard with JJ Media Group’s lovely lounge as a chill out zone.

There were artists doing their thing, poets speaking their spoken words, food and drinks provided by wonderful sponsor partners, an amazing raffle (if you missed out, you can watch a quick film of the party here). A whole creative community pulled together to help raise awareness of the wonderful work Eastside do with thousands of young people each year and to launch their anniversary year with a bang. Eastside also raised £1,300 to enable disadvantaged young people to take part in their latest spoken word project, I know, I wish, I will. The project will deliver the world’s longest youth-led spoken word poem (25 hours’ long!) on World Poetry Day in 2020 to be performed by young people at London’s West End Criterion Theatre.

Special thanks to TOWER London for their great support and to JJ for the use of the space.

Eastside is still raising money for I know, I wish, I will. If you would like to donate, you can do so via their Just Giving page.
